Are You Ready for a Backyard BBQ? Know What to Bring!
The weather is warming up and restrictions are loosening. That means more backyard BBQs and gatherings this spring and summer!
In the next few months, we have multiple reasons to gather and celebrate – the Fourth of July and graduation season, to name a few. If you receive an invitation to attend a backyard BBQ, but feel a little out-of-practice, don’t worry! We’ve got your covered with a comprehensive list of what to bring. You don’t want to show up empty-handed to any Texas BBQ.
Bring the Sides
No barbeque is complete without a variety of delicious sides and there can never be too many.
Assuming the host is preparing the meat, you can offer to bring any of the following, which are sure to be a hit:
- Sweet and buttery creamed corn
- Delicious potato salad
- Golden and gooey mac n’ cheese
- Savory pinto beans
- Creamy coleslaw
- Tasty green beans
- Buttery potatoes
Smokey Mo’s BBQ provides all of these sides to make your party prep simple. Everything is available in pint, quart, or gallon sizes to ensure everyone is fed, no matter how large the gathering.
Bring Dessert
Being responsible for the treat at the end of the meal is sure to make you popular at any BBQ. When planning for an event, think about what can easily be prepared and served in large quantities.
We recommend:
- A pan of homemade brownies
- Ice cream with all the fixings for a sundae (chocolate syrup, whipped cream, nuts and cherries)
- Cookies – make it simple with some break-and-bake, or pick some up at Smokey Mo’s BBQ
- Or a barbeque classic – banana pudding
Bring the Drinks
With all the delicious food at a backyard BBQ, there will need to be plenty of beverages on hand. Some of our favorites are lemonade, sweet tea, or an ice-cold beer.
Help quench everyone’s thirst by bringing the drink of choice in a cooler with some ice. And don’t forget the cups!
Bring the Entertainment
While the food is the main event at any BBQ, it’s always a good idea to have some entertainment planned. Getting people involved in an activity is a great way to encourage conversation. So, if you’re going to a BBQ where you don’t know all the guests, a traditional backyard game can help make sure everyone is engaged.
You can find any of these at your local sporting goods or superstore.
- Cornhole
- Ladder Toss
- Giant Jenga
And if there are going to be kids present, don’t forget the bubbles! We recommend getting a bubble machine to keep the kids entertained while you enjoy your meal.
